Fabio Cannavaro, born on September 13, 1973, in Naples, Italy, is a former professional football player. He primarily played as a central defender. Cannavaro began his career at Napoli, making his debut in 1992. He later played for Parma, where he achieved great success, winning the UEFA Cup in 1999 and 2002. In 2002, he joined Inter Milan, but his time there was short-lived, as he moved to Juventus the following year. At Juventus, Cannavaro won two Serie A titles before joining Real Madrid in 2006. During his time at Real Madrid, he captained the team and won the La Liga title in 2007. Cannavaro also had a successful international career, representing the Italian national team. He played in four FIFA World Cups, including the 2006 tournament, where he captained Italy to victory. Cannavaro was awarded the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2006, becoming the first defender to win the prestigious award in over a decade. After retiring from professional football, Cannavaro pursued a career in coaching and is currently the head coach of the Chinese Super League team Guangzhou Evergrande.
